Diehard Red Sox fan Seth Meyers knows it wasn’t terribly smart to book a stand-up show at the Wilbur Theatre Thursday, which happened to be Game 5 of the ALCS. But he has an excuse: “I scheduled it when Bobby Valentine was manager,” he said with a laugh. The “Saturday Night Live” anchorman wasn’t in town just to perform. The New Hampshire native also stopped by Boston’s NBC affiliate, WHDH-TV (Channel 7), to shoot some promos for “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” his new talk show debuting Feb. 24. (He’s taking over for his former “SNL” cast mate, Jimmy Fallon, who’s sliding behind the desk at “The Tonight Show.”) Meyers’s parents — two of his biggest fans — traveled from the Granite State to see Thursday’s show, but the comedian said he didn’t change his set because they were in the audience. “No, my show would go from, like, an hour to 15 minutes if I had to leave my parents out of it,” he said, chuckling. We also asked Meyers about his recent wedding on Martha’s Vineyard and the reports of guests being stranded on the island afterward because it was too foggy to fly. “Bill Hader was fogged in, but I think he really enjoyed that,” said Meyers. “He went on the ‘Jaws’ tour.”
