Grub Street held its annual gala the other night, and a slew of scribes turned out to support the Boston-based creative writing center. Novelist-essayist Julianna Baggott gave the keynote talk at the Boston Design Center shindig, and the crowd included Marjan Kamali, Stephen McCauley, and Daphne Kalotay, among others. The event featured a live auction, but instead of sports memorabilia, items included a manuscript consultation with literary agent Sorche Fairbank, rowing lessons on the Charles with author Henriette Lazaridis Power and former two-time world champion CB Sands-Bohrer , and a homemade Italian dinner with “All This Talk of Love” author Christopher Castellani. . . . Actor-comedian Drew Carey was spied chowing on a piece of Boston cream pie at Legal C Bar at Logan over the weekend. . . . Around the same time, Bill Murray was eating chowder at LTK at Logan’s Terminal A before catching a flight out of town. . . . And Scampo chef Lydia Shire had a few familiar faces into her place over the weekend, including Ice Cube, Anthony Parker, and Kris Humprhies. . . .
