Unscripted series about Wahlburgers set for A&E

“Boston’s Finest” look out, Donnie Wahlberg (right) is stepping out of the producer’s seat and in front of the camera for a new A&E reality series alongside his brothers, Mark and Paul. Donnie announced the new show while on “The Arsenio Hall Show” Monday night, saying that the family has signed on to be the subject of an unscripted series for A&E, which will be focused on and named after their Hingham-based restaurant, Wahlburgers. The New Kid on the Block noted that the name “Wahlburger” wasn’t always a compliment. “They called us that as kids,” Donnie said. “You know they teased me, they said ‘Hey, Wahlburger’ if they weren’t calling me junior jailbird because of my older brothers being inmates all the time, they called me ‘Hey, Ronald Wahlburger.’ So we got the last laugh and opened a burger joint with the name and it’s doing great.” The show premieres on Jan. 22. In other Wahlberg-related reality show news, there may be a NKOTB TV show in the works. TV Guide Network is proposing a series following the New Kids as they venture through the open seas on a cruise ship with some of their biggest fans, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
