Norman Rockwell and Norman Mailer hung out in the barn. Now you can, too. Of course, it will cost you. A nonprofit called Twenty Summers Inc., established to run arts programs in a restored, 106-year-old Provincetown barn with a rich history, has launched a $150,000 Kickstarter campaign. The organization is planning to launch its first season in May, and hopes to feature concerts, staged readings, interviews with big thinkers, and fashion events. The barn is owned by New York magazine editor Adam Moss and his partner, Daniel Kaizer. Twenty Summers Inc. is founded by writer Joshua Prager, novelist Julia Glass, and writer, photographer, and Hattery GM Ricky Opaterny. For a $50 donation, you get a ticket to an event at the barn. For $2,500, you can take an art class run by the Cape School of Art or get face time with either novelist Michael Cunningham, music producer Peter Casperson, or actor Jim True-Frost. The plan is to have programs running May 15 to June 15 each year, when Twenty Summers will rent the barn. While the top giving level is currently $10,000, Prager says the campaign will be ready should it receive a gift of, say, $100,000. “Norman Rockwell and Norman Mailer have promised to personally welcome the donor to our inauguration next spring,” he quipped.
