Every year at Joe and Kathy O’Donnell’s Joey Fund Film Premiere, guests get an exclusive look at a buzz-worthy movie (last year it was “Skyfall”). On Sunday, the 29th annual event, that film was “The Book Thief,” the World War II-era drama about a girl who takes in a Jewish refugee with her foster parents. The film, which stars Sophie Nélisse, Emily Watson, and Geoffrey Rush, doesn’t come out in Boston until Nov. 22. Guests at the Joey Fund event, which raises money to find a cure for cystic fibrosis (the O’Donnells lost their son to the disease in 1986), included developer Steve Karp, Wyoming real estate developer (and former Bostonian) Paul Del Rossi, and New England wine and spirits man Carl Martignetti. The reception featured cuisine from local spots such as Legal Sea Foods, Zaftigs, and Cactus Club, and was held at the Natick Mall with a screening nearby at AMC Framingham.
