TV producer Betsy Beers, who graduated from Milton Academy with Governor Deval Patrick, will pick up the Directors Guild of America’s Diversity Award with Shonda Rhimes in January. Beers and Rhimes have worked together on shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal.” The two filmed a pilot around Boston in 2012, but sadly, it wasn’t picked up. . . . The Massachusetts-made movie “American Hustle” is already dominating awards season. On Tuesday, the New York Film Critics Circle named gave it honors for best picture, best screenplay, and named Jennifer Lawrence as best supporting actress. The movie was filmed around Boston last spring.
