The locals featured on “Wicked Tuna” were at the Television Critics Association in Pasadena, Calif., to talk about the third season of the show, which premieres on the National Geographic Channel Feb. 16. Turns out that “Wicked Tuna” — the highest-rated show on the network — has become an international sensation, which Captain Dave Marciano learned on a recent promotional trip to Croatia. “When we hit the ground in Croatia, literally, the people in that country, I felt like royalty. I didn’t expect that because I couldn’t even speak the language. And that was very humbling, that whole experience over there.” Of course, Captain Bill Monte said the fishermen have been just as happy to meet their youngest fans at home. “The best part of the whole thing is if we are at the dock and we haven’t gone fishing, all day long, you’ll have little kids coming to the boat. I can’t believe how many little kids watch this show, but it’s pretty cool.” New Hampshire Captain Tyler McLaughlin added, “I’ll be going around Walmart and they’ll go running to their mommy and daddy because they’ll recognize me. It’s really awesome to see kids take to fishing and enjoy what I like doing because I’ve been fishing since I was a little kid and to see kids get involved in fishing, it really means a lot to me.”
