Marvin Gaye’s children settle with Robin Thicke

Marvin Gaye’s children have settled claims against a music company owned by Sony over Robin Thicke’s Grammy-nominated hit song ‘‘Blurred Lines.’’ The Gayes had accused EMI of not pursuing a copyright infringement case against Thicke because ‘‘Blurred Lines’’ has similarities to Gaye’s ‘‘Got to Give It Up.’’

An appeal to Russia

Actor Ian McKellen and 27 Nobel laureates have written an open letter urging Russia’s president to repeal an anti-gay law and expressing their solidarity with critics of the legislation. The letter — published Tuesday by the Independent newspaper — comes in the run-up to the Sochi Olympics.

West being investigated

Beverly Hills police say they’re investigating Kanye West for misdemeanor battery after a man accused the rapper of attacking him. Sergeant George DeMarois says several witnesses identified West as being involved in an altercation around 12:15 p.m. on Monday at an office on Wilshire Boulevard.
