John Kerry to speak at Yale commencement

Forget Punxsutawney Phil , the surest sign of spring is all the announcements of commencement speakers. Monday, Yale confirmed that Secretary of State John Kerry has been enlisted to be the university’s 2014 Class Day speaker. (In 1966, Kerry, who was then a Yale senior, spoke on behalf of his fellow students at Yale’s Class Day.) Some other recent Class Day speakers at Yale have included New Jersey Senator Cory Booker , actor Tom Hanks , former President Bill Clinton , and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair . . . . Meanwhile, Fisher College revealed Monday that Jeff Bauman , who lost both of his legs in the Boston Marathon bombings, and Carlos Arredondo , one of the people who helped save Bauman’s life after the blasts, will deliver the school’s commencement address together May 10.
