Provincetown film festival to honor David Cronenberg

Director David Cronenberg (inset), known for dark films such as “The Fly,” “Dead Ringers,” “Naked Lunch,” and 2012’s “Cosmopolis,” will be honored with the Filmmaker on the Edge Award at this year’s Provincetown International Film Festival, which runs June 17-23. Director and Provincetown personality John Waters will present the honor. We’re hoping this means that festivalgoers will get an early look at Cronenberg’s latest film, “Maps to the Stars.” Like “Cosmopolis,” that one stars Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon. The cast also includes Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, and John Cusack. Last year’s winner was “Spring Breakers” director Harmony Korin.
