Crooner Tony Bennett is quite the culture vulture. During a visit a few weeks ago, the singer paid a visit to the Peabody Essex Museum. The other day, while in town to attend the Italian Consulate’s Achievement Awards ceremony, Bennett stopped by the MFA, where director Malcolm Rogers happily showed him around the museum’s grand John Singer Sargent gallery. (It seems Sargent is one of Bennett’s favorite artists.) Bennett’s no neophyte when it comes to the art world; he’s a prolific painter who’s published two books of his paintings, “Tony Bennett: What My Heart Has Seen” and “Tony Bennett in the Studio: A Life of Art & Music.” . . . Lesley University ended the Boston Speakers Series at Symphony Hall with a talk by historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. . . . Patriots owner Robert Kraft chatted up Loews Hotels CEO Jonathan Tisch at the opening of Precinct Kitchen + Bar at the newly renovated Loews Boston Hotel on Berkeley Street. . . . Friday was the first sunny day in a while and singer Gloria Estefan and her family enjoyed it outside at Stephanie’s on Newbury.
