Yes, that was Jenny Dell on the dance floor at the Rockland High School prom the other night. The NESN anchor wasn’t chaperoning, she was Cameron Stuart’s date for the evening. Last fall, Stuart, a 16-year-old Sox fan who runs cross-country and plays lacrosse, invited Dell to the prom and — lo and behold — she accepted. “I thought it was fantastic,” the former Red Sox sideline reporter told the Brockton Enterprise. “When you see someone that puts that much time and effort into something, you have to take the time and give him the benefit of the doubt.” Stuart wore a dark suit with a red tie, and Dell looked fetching in a sleeveless black dress. If you’re wondering what Dell’s boyfriend, Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks, thought about the date, Stuart did, too. So he asked the ballplayer for permission beforehand. “It was very sweet. It was very gentlemanly of [Stuart] to make sure,” said Dell, who attracted a lot of attention as soon as she and her teen date stepped from the white limo. “Jenny has been extremely gracious,” Superintendent John Retchless told the Enterprise. “She seems like a charming young lady.”
