Australian pop artist Cody Simpson is taking his normally stadium-size rock show and making it acoustic for Great Wolf Lodge New England. The Fitchburg lodge hosts the teenage singer onstage Friday as part of its grand opening festivities. He will play an unplugged set for resort guests before starting his European tour, which begins in Istanbul the next day. Simpson, 17, had big things to say about his career when we spoke to him on the phone Wednesday afternoon. “I am transcending stereotypes of artists my age,” he told us. “I’m all about guitar.” Simpson was first discovered on YouTube in 2009, and has since signed with Atlantic Records and become an international sensation. He will perform his newest hit, “Surfboard,” for lodge vacationers, including his family, who is joining him there. “It looks like a cool spot, a lot of fans coming through too,” said Simpson. “I’m looking forward to putting on a really good show. I am proud of these kinds of performances.”
