There is a light that never goes out, yes, but not the spotlight on former Smiths singer Morrissey. That, alas, has been temporarily extinguished. Moz, as his adoring fans like to call him, was in fine form at the Opera House over the weekend, but the misanthropic Morrissey has canceled the rest of his US tour. According to the Morrissey fan site True to You, Moz collapsed backstage after his show in Boston and was treated at Massachusetts General Hospital for fever. (We couldn’t confirm that with the hospital Wednesday.) “The respiratory infection Morrissey contracted (earlier) in Miami has worsened, and in the interest of making a full recovery, all further touring plans have been halted,” read a post on the singer’s official Facebook page. “Morrissey thanks his fans for their compassion, understanding, and well-wishes during this difficult period as he recuperates.”
