Jazz man Fred Taylor meets Lady Gaga

Mary Ann Topper

Jazz impresario Fred Taylor ran into Lady Gaga (above) at the Montreal Jazz Festival this week, and reports that the pop star knows a little something about jazz. Gaga made a surprise appearance with Tony Bennett, and was still backstage afterward when Taylor went around to say hello to his friend of several decades. The two chatted for a few minutes about music. Gaga, who played at TD Garden Monday, was in Montreal for a show but took the stage with Bennett to sing several songs off their upcoming jazz collaboration, “Cheek to Cheek.”
