The National Center of Afro-American Artists was a popular stop at this weekend’s annual Roxbury Open Studios. (It was the 16th anniversary of the event.) The museum on Walnut Avenue has collections of African, Afro-Latin, Afro-Caribbean, and African-American art, including paintings, sculpture, graphics, photography, and decorative arts. . . . Tom Menino, the former mayor, aided by his Red Sox walking stick, was at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel the other night, honored with the Susan Jane Ganz Commitment Award from the Court Appointed Special Advocates for his longtime advocacy on behalf of vulnerable children. “Greater Boston” host Emily Rooney presented the award. . . . Some of the cast and crew of “Good Kids” gathered for a wrap party at the historic Winsor House in Duxbury Saturday. The movie stars Ashley Judd, Zoey Deutch, Demian Bichir, Nicholas Braun, and Israel Broussard.
