Dalai Lama exhibits playful streak

Taking part in a panel discussion at MIT Friday, the Dalai Lama didn’t let the serious talk stop him from giving a playful tug of Marshall Ganz’s mustache. The Tibetan spiritual leader and Ganz, a professor at Harvard’s Kennedy School, were joined by other professors from MIT and Harvard to discuss how individual actions can help address major collective issues like food security and global warming. The Dalai Lama had a busy schedule during his visit to Boston. He hosted a six-hour event, a portion of which was dubbed “The Eight Verses of Mind Training,” at the Citi Performing Arts Wang Theatre, and a two-hour session Saturday at TD Garden called “Educating the Heart and Mind,” which was attended by an estimated 10,000 people.
