New York magazine cover features 35 Bill Cosby accusers

New York magazine

New York magazine’s new cover features 35 of Bill Cosby’s accusers with the headline “An Unwelcome Sisterhood.” The women, who shared their stories with the magazine for its six-month project, are lined up, seated in chairs, with one chair left empty to represent women who have not been able to tell their stories. The cover was shot by photographer Amanda Demme.

Among the accusers on the cover are models Beverly Johnson and Janice Dickinson, and former Playboy Playmate Victoria Valentino, who asks, “A woman can be not believed for 30 years? But it takes one man?” She’s referring to Hannibal Buress, the comedian whose routine sparked public interest in Cosby’s past.

The story went viral Sunday night, and New York magazine’s website was down Monday morning. “Our site is still down but you can listen to 2 women’s testimony about Cosby on Instagram,” the magazine tweeted at about 9 a.m. The Daily Dot reported that the site was hacked. Nymag.com was back up during the afternoon.
