‘Patriots Day’ movie poster released

Just a few weeks after the cast and crew of “Patriots Day” wrapped, the first poster for director Peter Berg’s movie about the Boston Marathon bombings has been released. The poster is an image of red and white and blue sneaker laces made to look like a tattered American flag.

The film, which opens in Boston, New York, and LA on Dec. 21 (and nationwide Jan. 13), stars Mark Wahlberg as a Boston cop, John Goodman as former Police Commissioner Ed Davis, J.K. Simmons as Sergeant Jeffrey Pugliese of the Watertown PD, as well as Kevin Bacon and Michelle Monaghan.

Shot in and around Boston over a period of 50 days, “Patriots Day” is believed to focus on the frantic scene following the April 15, 2013 bombings and the efforts of law enforcement to find the people responsible.
