The Blue Man Group welcomed a new, albeit temporary, member to the stage at the Outside the Box Festival over the weekend. Berklee College of Music student Jarrell Campbell performed with the group on the festival’s main stage on Saturday after being named the winner of the group’s third annual Drum-Off Competition, which — along with the chance to jam with the Blue Men — won him over $6,000 in prizes, including a DW drum kit and accessories. Campbell, a 24-year-old Houston native living in Jamaica Plain, was one of over 30 competitors; he was selected as winner after the group was narrowed down to him and four other finalists, including PJ Holaday of Newburyport, Orlando Retana of Boston, Alex McGillivray of Peabody, and Vlade Guigni from the Dominican Republic.
