WBUR’s Meghna Chakrabarti (right) hosted the “Modern Love Live” event at the Wilbur on Valentine’s Day, and actress Emmy Rossum (left), “Atlanta” star Brian Tyree Henry , and “Orange Is the New Black” actress Alysia Reiner read “Modern Love” essays to a sold-out crowd. Rossum, who’s best known for her role on the Showtime series “Shameless,” will next appear in “A Futile & Stupid Gesture,” a biopic about National Lampoon cofounder (and Harvard alum) Doug Kenney. In the movie, which is based on Josh Karp’s best-selling book of the same name, Rossum plays the role of Kenney’s close friend Kathryn Walker. The film also stars Will Forte as Kenney; Seth Green as Christopher Guest; Natasha Lyonne as Anne Beatts; Joel McHale as Chevy Chase; John Gemberling as John Belushi; Martin Mull as an older version of Kenney; Rick Glassman as Harold Ramis; Jackie Tohn as Gilda Radner; and Jon Daly as Bill Murray. Netflix is slated to release the film later this year.
