Rumors have been swirling that Ben Affleck’s days as Batman are coming to an end, but don’t believe the naysayers — the “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” star said he’s not ready to hang up his cape just yet. Appearing at Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday, Affleck addressed the speculation — which was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter last week — that Warner Bros. is planning on phasing him out of the superhero franchise, assuring the crowd that he wants to continue on in the role. “Let me be very clear: I am the luckiest guy in the world. Batman is the coolest [expletive] character in any universe, DC [or] Marvel, and I’m so thrilled to do it,” said Affleck, adding that the studio’s executives told him that they want him to stay on. The actor suggested the rumors about his departure stemmed from his decision to step down from directing the upcoming standalone Batman film, but he praised Matt Reeves, the director tapped to replace him. Affleck appeared at the Warner Bros. panel at Comic-Con with his “Justice League” co-stars, including Wonder Woman Gal Gadot, The Flash Ezra Miller, Aquaman Jason Momoa, and Cyborg Ray Fisher. Fans got to see the latest trailer for the DC Extended Universe film, which will hit theaters Nov. 17.
