The key to success, it turns out, is actually failure. So says Kendrick Lamar, who delivered the keynote speech at the Forbes Under 30 Summit Tuesday. Asked what advice he’d to give to the young entrepreneurs in the audience at City Hall Plaza, the rapper said this: “It always comes back to this one single word: failure. You know how many people are in fear of that word? I’ve been in that situation plenty of times. You have to intimidate this word with work ethic. There’s no better way to put it. You have to intimidate it. Because failure is the one thing that stops us all from following our own dreams. We’re scared of what people gonna think, we’re scared about the money we gonna lose, we’re scared about the financial state it’s gonna put us in 10 years from now. But at the end of the day, your failures and mistakes are experiences, they’re lessons learned.”
