Is Aubrey O’Day the reason Donald Trump Jr. is getting divorced?

It’s been a while since we’d thought about Aubrey O’Day, the model/reality TV personality who was a member of Danity Kane, the forgettable girl group formed on MTV’s “Making the Band” and signed by P. Diddy.

But O’Day is top of mind at the moment because, according to Us Weekly, she had a brief, though apparently serious romance with President Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. that began soon after O’Day appeared on “Celebrity Apprentice,” the reality TV show hosted by Donald Jr.’s dad. (O’Day finished third on the show, by the way, behind Clay Aiken and eventual champ Arsenio Hall.)

The alleged affair is coming to light now because Donald Jr. and his wife, Vanessa, have separated after 13 years of marriage and five children, and there’s been a lot of speculation about the reasons why. One theory floated by the New York Post, the tabloid owned by President Trump’s friend Rupert Murdoch, is that Vanessa wants out because Donald Jr. is cheap. That’s right, according to the Post, Donald “treats [Vanessa] like a second-class citizen,” keeping her on such a strict budget that she had to borrow money from her mom.

But the news that President Trump’s oldest son may have had an affair with O’Day probably didn’t help the marriage either. Us Weekly claims Donald Jr. and O’Day were hot and heavy from the end of 2011 until March 2012 when, according to the celebrity mag, Vanessa Trump found “a treasure trove of emails” between the two. Citing an unnamed source, Us Weekly says Vanessa called and confronted O’Day, “with her kids on the phone.”

The relationship ended soon after, and O’Day went on to record two songs and a video that now seem to be related to the failed romance. One is a breakup track titled “DJT” — Donald Jr.’s initials — on O’Day’s 2013 album. Called “Between Two Evils,” the song’s lyrics suggest betrayal: “I hate me for, I hate me for, hate you for letting our love die.” The second is O’Day’s remix of the Gotye hit “Somebody That I Used Know,” in which she adds the lines: “Now and then I think of when we were together/Like when you told me that your marriage was a lie/Told me that I brought you back to life/Couldn’t live without me by your side.”

Neither O’Day nor Trump Jr. have commented on the alleged affair, but on the day Donald Trump was elected president, O’Day tweeted and then deleted: “My story I didn’t tell is worth millions now.” Tuesday, she posted a picture on Instagram of herself in a black bikini with the caption: “I’m only interested in the things money can’t buy.”
