Everyone likes a good pun, including the folks in the front office at Boston Lyric Opera.

In recent days, while frantically trying to sell tickets to the BLO’s upcoming production of Leonard Bernstein’s “Trouble in Tahiti,” staffers began punning potential titles for operas involving dogs — see “The Barker of Seville” and “Paw Bohème” — and tweeting them with the hashtag #DogOperas.

One of the better ones was “Corgi & Bess,” which was tweeted with a doctored image of Tony-winning singer/actress Audra McDonald and a corgi. McDonald was clearly amused, tweeting: “OMG this made me laugh so hard. Corgi and Bess. I loves you Corgi.”
