NESN won’t say so, but we’re told there’s more to Jerry Remy’s absence than a simple sinus infection. The Sox analyst missed his fifth consecutive game Wednesday, and his return doesn’t look imminent. You’ll recall that Remy has had serious health issues in recent years, and was out from early May to mid-August of 2009 battling depression and complications from lung cancer surgery. Speaking about the depression, Remy later told the Globe: “You didn’t want to get out of bed. The first thing you thought when you woke up was ‘another lousy day is ahead of me.’ I had no desire to do anything.’’ Calls to NESN flack Gary Roy and Remy’s on-air partner Don Orsillo were not returned Wednesday.
