Ken Tangvik writes book with lessons from students

In another generation, Ken Tangvik admits, he’d have been called an old hippie. He’s an English professor, trying to mold semi-closed young minds, like the Robin Williams character in “Dead Poet’s Society.” He’s a community activist, teaching teenagers the fine points of protest and picking and choosing battles. And after 25 years of working with young people from backgrounds varying in culture, ethnicity, and level of stability, Tangvik has written a book of life lessons gleaned from the kids.
