Amber Born has a way with words

Born, who’s 13, lives in Marblehead, was among five Massachusetts competitors to qualify for the 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee, held in Washington, D.C., last week, and the only one to reach the semifinals. A home-schooled seventh grader, Born was competing in her third national spelling bee, won by California teenager Snigdha Nandipati.
