More than 1,000 people gathered recently at the Danversport Yacht Club for a fund-raiser to support Pete Frates of Beverly, the 27-year-old former captain of the 2007 Boston College baseball team who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease).
