Before she appeared as Kelly Kapoor on “The Office,” Mindy Kaling was the local funny girl who co-wrote and costarred in “Matt & Ben,” an off-Broadway play that poked fun at the famous “Good Will Hunting” twosome, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck . But the actress-writer-producer has apparently never actually met her fellow Cantabridgians. While promoting her new Fox sitcom, “The Mindy Project,” during the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills on Monday, Kaling revealed, “I’ve never run into them or met them in the eight years I’ve been out here.” She hopes to rectify that soon. She’s counting on her “Mindy” costar Chris Messina , who has a role in Affleck’s fall release, “Argo.” “I’m trying to make Chris take me to the ‘Argo’ premiere,” she said. Kaling also told the TCA crowd that she willl return for the season premiere of “The Office” to wrap up Kelly’s story line.
