Boston chefs still infused with teachings of Julia Child
On Aug. 15, Julia Child would have celebrated her 100th birthday. The cookbook author, television personality, and longtime Cambridge resident died in 2004. But her presence is still felt — perhaps nowhere more so than in Boston’s culinary community. A champion of local restaurants, she was a mentor to many of the chefs who would build the foundation of the area’s dining scene. And in an era of food television and online recipes, Child’s influence on young cooks remains remarkably strong.
