Do you feel like the ICA has helped define the landscape of the neighborhood?

Definitely. This area is young and up-and-coming. I think that people who come to our parties dress really well. It’s Boston, so people dress very classically, with a twist. It’s not too out there. It’s never too out there, but it’s always fashion forward. That’s how I see myself as well.

Where does your style come from?

I’m a cross between my grandmother and my mom. I love to go shopping with my mom, and I do a lot of shopping out of her closet. My grandmother was a dressmaker and a seamstress. She taught my mom everything there is about the importance of tailoring and how a great fit makes everything look the best it can be. My mom dresses very classically; she likes everything very contemporary with clean lines. My grandmother always liked things a little bit wilder. I’m definitely a combination of the two of them. — C.M.
