Beyonce breaks out in song at press conference

Beyonce answered critics of her Inauguration Day performance the best way she could — with another sterling performance of the national anthem. The difference? On Thursday, it was live: She admitted during her Super Bowl news conference that when she performed for President Barack Obama and the nation, she decided to sing to a prerecorded track. Calling herself a self-proclaimed ‘‘perfectionist,’’ she said she wanted the day to go off without a hitch. ‘‘Due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking a risk,” she explained.

Evidently a game (the super bowl) is more important than this nation's presidential inauguration.  good intellect and choice of priorites.

If any singer misses a note or two at the Super Bowl it's a story that has a short shelf life.  At the Presidential Inaugauration it's a viral résumé used and referred to  constantly and continuously by media outlets, especially those that do not like you. Cellist Yo Yo Ma, violnist Itzhak Perlman, pianist Gabriela Montero and clarinetist Anthony McGil  performed to a track of, "John Williams' "Air and Simple Gifts" at the 2008 Inaugeration, their "own" music track.  Beyonce did nothing more, nothing less.  Great performances by both The Classical Group and Beyonce respectfully.  As a side note, while Kelly Clarkson ( whom I voted for a gazillion times on the first American Idol - the best ever for me ) sang live, she was in places drowned out by the excellent Marine Band.  That is a problem with outdoor live performances.
