Old Magoun's is (as its name suggests) in Magoun Square, not Ball Square.
PJ Ryan's is right in the heart of Teele Square -- not between Teele and Davis squares.
Sally O'Brien's in Union Square is farily easy to reach by bus, and certainly as accessible by public transit as any of your South Boston or Brighton suggestions.
