On March 5, Gary Friedman, the silver-haired CEO emeritus of Restoration Hardware, was warned that a party in Boston the next night to celebrate the opening of his enormous store could get seriously overcrowded.
“We can ask for forgiveness [afterward],” he told the group, according to people who were there.

The arrogance is breathtaking.
Well, whoop-di-frickin-do, arent we important! Arrogance isn't even close to what these self important society types try to pass off as a happening event. As Don Henley said, Get over it! We'll ask for forgivness later? What? After a couple hundred people get killed in a stampede? Get over yourselves!
For many, many, years this building housed Bonwit Teller, an upscale department store. Why doesn't anyone ever mention that, instead of acting like Louis had it forever. They probably were the most short-term of the tenants.
Rules don't apply to the beautiful peopl.
On another note. How did they get a permit to hold a party for over a thousand people without all fire, ventilation etc systems in perfect working order?
