Unlike John James Audubon, extreme realism was not a concern for Charley Harper. Rather, this mid-century American artist was known for stylized renditions of creatures done in flat geometrics. Just in time for spring, Motawi Tileworks releases a collection of 16 designs featuring Harper’s work, including birds, bugs, and fuzzy critters. Each tile, which can be displayed on its own or incorporated into tilework on a wall, is handmade using a Spanish technique that incorporates raised lines, for a satisfyingly tactile effect.
