Contemporary leather lounger is a furniture fair standout

Since 1961, the design world has gathered in Milan for Salone del Mobile or the Milan Furniture Fair. Doug Gates, who owns Showroom, makes the pilgrimage each spring to identify trends and source new pieces for his store. His top pick this season is the A.B.C.D. Chair designed by Antonio Citterio, which Gates calls, “the perfect recliner in disguise.” It’s a remake of an earlier classic, mixing sleek design and functionality. A patented hidden relax mechanism allows for a smooth glide that resembles your grandfather’s Barcalounger not at all. A.B.C.D. Chair by Flexform, starting at $4,146 at Showroom, 240 Stuart St., Boston, 617-482-4805, www.showroomboston.com
