So what’s new at Copley Place?

Over the decades Copley Place has become a Boston fashion landmark and a rite of passage for any retail-curious visitor (or well-heeled local shopper).

And now the 33-year-old megaplex in the Back Bay is getting a makeover, with a slew of new luxury flagships — and some expanded high-end mainstays — set to open this fall.

“It’s over 30 years old, and we needed some upgrades,” says Debora Konig, Copley Place’s marketing director.

That means marble and stone floors, a family
restroom (it’s never too early to get them started on luxury browsing), and more than 50 revamped storefronts. The upgrade began in late 2015 and will end this fall.

What does this mean for you, eager buyer?

Four newcomers will arrive in the weeks ahead: Christian Louboutin, Saint Laurent, APM Monaco, and TOD’s. This is Christian Louboutin’s first Boston location, and the shop — known for spiky stilettos with crimson soles —will sell women’s and men’s shoes, along with bags, and leather. Saint Laurent, the iconic 1960s brand seen on everyone from Princess Margaret to Kendall Jenner, will stock shoes, jewelry, leather goods, and more. APM Monaco specializes in silver jewelry, and Italian brand TOD’s will sell its signature brightly colored loafers, bags, and luggage.

Longtime tenants will also expand with the renovation. Look for updated versions of Salvatore Ferragamo, David Yurman, and Dior. A new iteration of Jimmy Choo has already opened and has started to sell both men’s and women’s shoes.

“Now, it’s one long luxury row,” Konig says.
