A semester in South Africa

Uyen Truong, a senior at Boston College, chose to study at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa, not only to get out of her comfort zone but also to observe interactions between people in the wake of apartheid. Truong, a sociology major, took classes such as contemporary social theory and environmental sociology. Her experience inspired her to think about working or volunteering abroad. “It really helped broaden my perspectives on life and career choices,’’ she says.
