Cycling western Rwanda on the Congo Nile Trail - Travel

We are cycling Rwanda’s Congo Nile Trail, a dirt road and trail stretching 227 kilometers along the Lake Kivu coast, which winds by stunning bays and peninsulas, its irregular coastline dropping sharply to the lake below. Yet this small, densely populated (about 12 million people are crammed into an area slightly larger than Vermont), landlocked East African nation is among the world’s poorest.
