Tea time at 35,000 feet

Virgin Atlantic Airways has brought a quintessential English practice onboard its London-outbound flights: afternoon tea. The traditional tea service is available to customers in Virgin’s Upper Class cabin. Passengers can choose English breakfast or Earl Grey tea, and will be served finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries on a custom-designed cake stand. Virgin added the service partly because of passenger requests, which the airline attributes to the increased popularity of TV period dramas such as “Downton Abbey.” 800-862-8621, virgin- atlan
