Sunday Morning

Miami Beach

Necee Regis FOR THE BOSTON GLOBE

Some of the big cruise line vessels arrive back to port about 8 a.m. on Sundays. Early risers can pick up guava croissants and cafe con leche at Le Chic French Bakery (1043 Washington Ave.) and head to South Pointe Park, the southernmost tip of South Beach (1 Washington Ave., www.miamibeach411.com/Sports/south_point.html). Sit on the rocks or the observation deck and wave to travelers who line the decks of the giant ships cruising through the Government Cut leading to the Port of Miami. No one else will be around except a few joggers and the sea-gulls. And at that hour the parking lot should have plenty of metered spaces, though cycling is my favorite way to get around town. Visitors can rent bicycles at one of the many Deco Bike sharing stations (www.decobike.com).
