The Tip

Buy fast memory chips with large capacity

Most modern digital still cameras, including many point-and-shoots, also record surprisingly good video. But the storage chip can be an obstacle to capturing more than a minute or so at a time. When shooting video, your camera has to save at least 24 photos per second. Invest in fast memory chips to keep pace. A Class 10 chip operates up to 90 times faster than a standard memory chip. It costs more, but not as much as having to take the trip over to get the shot. Also, buy a backup chip. Murphy’s Law says you will run out of storage space just as an elephant magically appears.
