Bora Bora calls to Dustin Pedroia

When he isn’t helping the Boston Red Sox on their annual World Series quest, Dustin Pedroia enjoys spending time in Bora Bora, an island in French Polynesia surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef — and world-renown crystal clear waters. The All-Star second baseman, a native of Woodland, Calif., recently shared his thoughts on all things travel.

Favorite vacation spot? I would have to say Bora Bora because it’s beautiful and it’s in the middle of nowhere. I loved the over-water bungalow where I could watch sharks, rays, and other fish.

Favorite food or drink while vacationing? Any cultural or local fare.

Where would you like to travel but haven’t? I’d like to go to Alaska because it looks awesome with all of the nature and scenery.

One item you can’t leave home without when traveling? iPhone.

Aisle or window? I prefer the aisle so it’s easy to get up and move around.

Favorite childhood travel memory? Snorkeling in the Bahamas with my family was cool because I got to see all different kinds of fish.

Guilty pleasure when traveling? I like to relax and have nothing planned.

Best travel tip? Pack light.
