Milan Lucic, a left winger on the Boston Bruins, loves everything about the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. The beaches, the water slides, the food . . . so much so that he’s been there multiple times and plans to go back. After a long regular season in which the B’s earned the NHL’s best record, and playoffs in which they lost to the Montreal Canadiens in the conference semifinals, Lucic, 26, is looking forward to some downtime with his wife, Brittany, and their 18-month-old daughter, Valentina. We caught up with the Vancouver, British Columbia, native, who now calls Boston home, to talk about all things travel.

Favorite vacation spot? The Bahamas. I’ve been there three times [to the Atlantis resort] and I liked it so much that I chose to get married there.

Favorite food or drink while vacationing? Margarita on the rocks with salt.

Where would you like to travel to but haven’t? Bora Bora [an island in French Polynesia] — but I’m finally going there this summer. I’m looking forward to it, especially since Brittany and I have been married for two years and haven’t really had a honeymoon.

One item you can’t leave home without? Toothbrush. I can’t start my day without a clean mouth.

Aisle or window? Window. I hate getting up for people when they need to use the restroom.

Favorite childhood travel memory? Disneyland. I was 10 or 11 and was with my parents and two brothers. I had always dreamed of going there and had so much fun when I finally did. I remember liking all the rides, but I think Indiana Jones was my favorite.

Guilty pleasure when traveling? Chocolate for dessert. I like everything chocolate — just not chocolate ice cream. The ice cream has to be vanilla.

Best travel tip? Put small travel items in shoes that you’ve packed to save space.
