Ayanna Pressley speaks out for girls
She topped the City Council ticket in a year that saw her talking about sexual assault.
Ayanna Pressley, the first African-American woman to serve on the Boston City Council, was considered a long shot to retain her seat. But she ending up topping the ticket, capping off a year that saw her speaking out with candor on her own sexual assault. For these reasons, Ayanna Pressley is one of the 2011 Bostonians of the Year.
