When the local edition of the Boys of Summer nose-dived to that 7-20 record after Sept. 3, blew a nine-game lead, and finished with that dramatic final embarrassment, unable to collect the final strike for that final out in the final inning of that final game in Baltimore, the players quickly became known as the Fat Boys of Summer.
