That’s the number of military men and women with ties to Massachusetts who have died while serving their country from the Civil War to the present. To commemorate them, the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund will display more than 33,000 American flags on Boston Common near the Soldiers and Sailors Monument from Thursday through May 28.
