3 private-dining room deals

Don’t just think white tablecloths. Barbecue, Chinese, burger joints — they sometimes have private rooms, too. Depending on the restaurant, you may want to arrange for an affordable buffet or just have guests order from the dinner menu.

The smallest private room at the Back Bay Champions Sports Bar (Marriott Copley Place, 110 Huntington Avenue, Boston, 617-927-5304, championsboston.com) holds up to 20 and charges a $500 food and beverage minimum for a group that size. With a menu of beer, burgers, and other pub fare, you can order up a feast at $25 a head (not including tax and gratuity).

At fondue restaurant The Melting Pot’s Bedford location (213 Burlington Road, Bedford, 781-791-0529, meltingpot.com/bedford), the $750 private-room food and beverage minimum feeds about 20 (not including tax and gratuity), but can go up, depending on the day of the week.
