JARED I just wore jeans and a flannel short-sleeved shirt. Nothing crazy.
KAYLA I had about three glasses of wine to prepare.
JARED I’m early everywhere I go, so I got there kind of early and she was [about] 20 minutes late.
KAYLA I got lost in a city I’ve lived in for four years. The fact that I was late had me extremely frazzled.
> JUST HANGING
JARED I went back outside and hung out there [to wait]. Every girl who walked by who was attractive, I was like, “Oh, is this her?”
KAYLA I actually walked right past him, which I felt really bad about.
JARED She’s not a girl I would normally find attractive. A little short for my taste.
KAYLA He was tall, very tall.
JARED We talked about where she goes to school, how she heard about Cupid, if she’d been on a blind date before.

KAYLA I was really happy to learn he [has been] to Israel, because I will be traveling there in July. We also both like music, but he was definitely better versed in bands, concerts, singers than I am.
JARED I was a little surprised we didn’t have more in common. I mean, I guess she likes dancing.
KAYLA He shared a lot more than I was expecting for a first date. Some of the things he talked about were things I didn’t learn about close friends until months after I knew them.
JARED I asked if she liked Quentin Tarantino movies, and she didn’t know who that was. I was like, “Nope, this isn’t going to work.”
KAYLA I could tell he was a super nice guy; however, I don’t exactly think the two of us are the best match.
JARED As the date went on, I discovered we had less and less in common. But then I realized I could keep ordering drinks, so I just stayed and did that.
> A CONNECTION?
JARED We both realized we love [the sitcom] It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I was like, “Wow, we have something in common!”
KAYLA I was sort of over it by our last drink.
JARED We exchanged numbers, but I didn’t save hers. I was like, “Yeah, maybe we can hang out sometime,” but I didn’t really mean it.
